Seriously, a big boost for Aadhaar today! Clearly. the FM seems to be banking heavily on Aadhaar to rein in diversion of subsidies.

The only word used more frequently than Aahdaar in the budget speech was the slew of programs bearing the name of Rajiv Gandhi!!

Is a slow process: If apps in LPG, MGNREGS, pensions, scholarships, etc. take off, then other depts will follow suit..

First time govt has clearly said Aadhaar No = PoI and PoA. Hope more will follow, and hope UIDAI will get cracking on enrolling the ID-less

I'm told that Aadhaar = PoI and PoA for opening a/c's. If current address has changed, need added proof. Wish RBI would clarify to banks.

RBI first said that for 'small' a/c's, Aadhaar = KYC; in trying to expand that to ALL a/c's, RBI created confusion by asking for added PoA.

UID isn't giving 'identity' to anyone - as they are born with it! What it gives is a nationally acceptable personal identification number.
