I will believe that AI is going to replace programmers when it can set up authentication, IAM, and networking policies correctly. Until then, AI can only replace 10% of the job.
@rakyll But first let it please get my seating and meal preferences on code-share airline tickets correct.
@rakyll The problem is that AI can replace the most junior talent for effectively nothing. If organizations simply replace the people that they can replace with AI we are going to have a massive talent deficit in the near future.
this is still misinformation because it still can't even do that 10% well enough to actually replace anyone. It's a bunch of smoke. It never will, either. And it shouldn't. We are the builders. We need to build, even if we have fully capable autonomous building systems, they should be guided by humans. It' s a bunch of fake hype that any such system could or should replace humans, contrived by billionaires to take power away from the workers. GGs.
@rakyll Or until it can setup my local machine from a project in the company I joined. Day 1.
@rakyll Some of my large customers running 1000+ microservices are generating Terraforms and merging the PRs using Agentic AI. However cross account/multi account set ups are still hard.
@rakyll It’s going to be hard at least for awhile to replace all tasks of any programmer job, but certainly big chunks of roles including auth, as long as more senior folks are good at checking every line of code.
