Hi! I would appreciate if you could take no more than 3 minutes of your time to complete a brief survey asking about music taste and you can get a song recommendation in return! Thanks for your help, link below. utdallas.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0u…

Hi! If you support our ticket, could you share us on your story and/or social media to help us gain traction? It only take a second but could be the difference… instagram.com/p/BvR9ptulwHNv…

The UTD Labor Ticket is a diverse coalition of students committed to labor rights, transparency, and student engagement. We're fighting to build a UTD that is more ethical, sustainable, and inclusive. Visit utdlabor.com for more information.

This week we reviewed over the main concepts of the class. One thing that interested me was the fact that Botox (botulinum toxin) can be used for other things besides cosmetics. For example, helping with chronic headaches and seizures. #loveneuro

This week in class one specific topic caught my eye. Relation between hypothalamus and rage, stimulation of hypothalamus produces aggression. This concept could relate to breaking point,a topic learned in past psych-courses. Basically, our brains are hardwired to snap. #loveneuro

This week we talked about language & neuroscience. Language has two components; comprehension and expression. These two correlate for language processing, which occurs 250 millisecs after onset. Wernicke's area handles comprehension and Broca's area handles expression. #loveneuro

This week we talked about neuroscience of the auditory system. Intriguingly, how humans locate where a particular sound is coming from. We do that through time difference (whether the sound hits your left or right ear first) and intesity (a soft sound is farther away) #loveneuro

This week we talked about vision. One thing that stood out are the two streams that aid in how we perceive the things we see. The dorsal stream processes where things are and the ventral stream processes what things are as our visual field perceive the world around us.#loveneuro

This week we learned about the developmental neuroscience of newborns. A very intriguing topic was abnormal development. For ex, the resting posture for a newborn is flexed extermeties close to their body. If arms/legs are completely flaccid this is an abnormal tone. #loveneuro

I appallingly learned that honey can have microscopic amounts of botuline intoxine (very potent toxin). In adults this amount typically has no effect, but infants less than 1 could acquire infantile botulism. Some symptoms are painless constipation and muscle weakness. #loveneuro

In class, I learned how Aspirin works. I always wondered how a pill could reduce people's pain. Aspirin blocks the hyperalgesia process to relieve pain Hyperalgesia involves damaged tissue with either increased sensitivity to pain in that area or in surrounding tissues #loveneuro

In class concept of pain was very informing/intriguing. Pain is not only physical, it also has mental/emotional aspects (if you receive bad news). Pain involves nociception (stimulus generates pain reception) and perception. You need both to experience pain. #loveneuro

In class I found it very interesting to learn how neurons communicate, since they aid in thinking and are tbe fundamental units of tbe nervous system. Info/dialogue is transfered from neuron to neuron through synapses. Synapses are the tiny gaps between two neurons. #loveneuro

The topic, learning something new arose. We learned the threshold point or peak of learning. Before the threshold learning a new skill is hard, but after the desired skill connects easier. Which relates to how action potentials only generated after a certain threshold #loveneuro

Today in Neuroscience the topic of how brains think arose. I was intrigued to learn that neurons play a major role. The rapid firing of neurons as they transfer messages along synapses allows us to think. Also, I now know glia is the glue that holds neurons together. #loveneuro

Yesterday we learned about conditioned relfexes. Which is a trained response to a stimulus. Which can relate to how numerous people are trained by reactions of family to dislike or be wary of those who are considered abnormal. I learned this in my abnormal psych class. #loveneuro

My fav part of lecture today had to be the debate of where the human psyche or mind is housed. The debate of which organ houses the human psyche includes the two sides of enephalocentric (head) and cardiocentric (heart). I never thought the mind could live in the heart #loveneuro
