Umuora Mmesioma is the 105th reported Victim of #FemicideInNigeria in 2026.

Saying no should not cost a woman her life.
Attempted Crypto scam! Bit of a long post (sorry about that)
So, I had a phone call on Friday from DCI Thomas Gray at the North Yorkshire Police, he proceeded to tell me that I had been part of a huge Identity fraud scheme and my ID etc had been cloned along with 1000’s of others
He gave me a crime reference number and said this would be emailed to me along with his warrant number etc, this email came through but had Met police branding on it (image below)
He went on to tell me that they had arrested one of the individuals involved but said I was still at a huge financial risk as apparently, they had peoples account details etc including details of crypto exchanges
He started to read off a list of crypto exchanges they had listed (all the main usual ones) but pronounced some of them wrong (slightly concerning as he told me he deals with Crypto fraud and scams often)
He then told me the individuals name that had been arrested. It was the name of an individual I has worked with 5+ years ago (clearly random chance). I told him this as it may have been some use etc, but he glossed over the fact and seemed shocked I would even mention it
He told me he would transfer me to his superior officer as there was some details of the case he wanted to go through with me. I then get transferred to this new Police officer, who goes over these same details again and goes through ways to help improve personal protection with your accounts etc.
Then he starts asking if I have any Crypto accounts and which ones, and what level of account balance I have as this will determine the level of financial risk I may be exposed to.
I wasn’t going to give this information as it was nothing to do with them and it wouldn’t affect their case. He said if I have any further questions they could arrange an appointment at my local station.
I declined and that’s how it was left, they would call me back if anything further had happened (His job was clearly there to reassure me and to make this feel legitimate)
Within 5 mins of this call, I then get a call from a man saying he is part of the Security Team at Crypto . com
Well, this is when it started going downhill for them, Crypto . com aren’t going to call me.
He told me the crime reference number to prove he had just spoken to the police, after a bit of his waffle, I asked him for my anti phishing code. He was completely thrown and had no clue what it was (you would think the security team would know what this term meant)
I then get an email with a verification code (as if someone was trying to access my account) and he told me to verify the email was real by going to Crypto . com’s verify page.
This would prove the email was real, what I’m guessing he failed to realise was, you can also check phone numbers! Lo and behold his number was not one of theirs! I kept him on the call for a few more minutes to waste his time before hanging up.
I then phoned North Yorkshire police to find out about the original number as after a quick look online it was coming up as one of theirs.
Turns out they were spoofing an actual police officers’ number, and the front desk were dealing with lots of the same calls! They have no record of any Thomas Gray working there and the crime reference number and warrant number were a load of crap
Scams aren’t always easy to spot! So please be careful
People do want to try and steal your money! We all work hard enough to earn it and want to do what’s best to maximise it, so always do your best to protect it!
Always use 2FA! Do NOT give anyone details about your account! You can always verify it’s the actual police by calling 101 and going through to their station. Always go through the official website to get the contact number, do not call them back!

As an ophthalmologist working in Karamoja, I have seen how a simple cataract surgery can restore not only sight, but also independence, dignity, and opportunity.
Yet many people remain unnecessarily blind because they are unaware that treatment is available.
This video shares my vision for a youth-led approach to increasing awareness and access to cataract services in underserved communities.
Together, we can ensure that avoidable blindness nolonger limits people’s ability to learn, work, and participate fully in society.

Young boy, Destiny Chibuike breaks down in tears after passing his WAEC examination, despite his parents’ inability to afford the exam fees.
According to the report, some teachers at Government Secondary School, Narayi, Kaduna State, contributed money to pay his WAEC fees. After receiving his results and performing exceptionally well, the boy reportedly visited to show them his results and could not hold back his tears.
We keep telling young girls to be careful and stay safe, but how often do we actually fix the systems that make the world unsafe for them?
This is a reminder to look out for the girl child and do more for them!
Nigerian media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has opened a London cinema dedicated to African and Black films, driven in part by her experience growing up in England.
Now, she wants to create a space where African and Black filmmakers can take charge of the narrative.
Stratford is one of Europe’s great regeneration success stories. It’s ready for its next chapter - European rail links.
I’m proud to say I’m working with the government to deliver new cross-Channel trains from East London. The benefits would be felt far beyond our city.

We’re so close to getting through these last two sessions, and I’m praying we can raise what we need to finish this part of her treatment.
Please don’t stop standing with my sister. 🤲🏾
This really hurts to watch. Looking at Lauretta before cancer and seeing her now… you can’t tell me cancer doesn’t change a person’s life. I just want my sister back. 🥹🥹🤲🏾

Ghanaians you need to wake up our lives are at stake!!!! There’s no fight against illegal mining!! Stop believing in the propaganda that our waterbodies are improving because they are NOT. The lands minister is failing in the fight against illegal mining @ArmahKofiBuah#StopGalamseyNow
The reason why most women stay so long in an abusive marriage is the fear of society and the hate that comes from surviving that brutal phase.
Once a woman leaves an abusive marriage, she's called selfish, she's tagged a prostitute, she left because there's another man.
She failed to live for her children.
She's a single mother so she doesn't deserve love.
But when she dies in an abusive marriage, she's foolish, she should have left long time ago, she failed her children, she died because of a man, she's male centred.
Y'all claim to love women so much but will never allow them choose their peace and happiness.
A 12-year-old boy was playing in a lazy river when his leg was suddenly sucked into a drain beneath the water. His friend desperately tried to pull him free, but the suction was too strong.
Adults jumped in to help, but the boy still wouldn’t move. As the seconds passed, he remained pinned below the surface and was running out of air.
That’s when Shaun Skursky dove down. When he realized he couldn’t pull the boy free, Shaun surfaced for air, dove back down and gave him a breath underwater.
Then he came back up, grabbed another breath and went right back down. For nearly eight minutes, Shaun kept repeating that same cycle over and over while others fought to free the boy.
Finally, resort workers shut off the pumps. The boy was pulled out, given CPR and rushed to the hospital.
Doctors placed him in a coma, but days later, he opened his eyes, eventually returned home and made a full recovery.
What Shaun did saved that boy’s life. He deserves recognition for this one.
These two are Carl-Fredrik Arndt and Peter Jonnson. These are the two young men who came across Brock Allen Turner raping a woman. They stopped him, called the police, held him, and kept her safe until the police arrived. What happened after that is a travesty the likes of which has become all too common. Be like these two, not ALLEN Turner..
My friend just welcomed twins through CS, and this morning she called me crying.
I immediately thought something was wrong with the babies.
Turns out, her landlord had just sent her a letter reducing their rent by 50%.
I asked her to send me the letter because I honestly couldn’t believe it.
I read it twice.
In Lagos? A landlord actually reducing rent because his tenant’s wife just gave birth to twins?
I don’t even know what to say. 🥹
Are there really landlords like this, or is this a one-in-a-million kind of landlord? ❤️
@IneosGh@askghmedia I agree but the UK has narrower roads and we still have bus lanes. Accra in particular needs a train network, followed by bus lanes
