Good afternoon all 😀

🙏 Nagar Kirtan in Redbridge 🧡 Redbridge Independent Councillors were honoured to attend Nagar Kirtan, learning more about this important Sikh tradition. Nagar Kirtan is a Sikh religious procession through the streets, featuring devotional singing (kirtan), community, prayer and seva (selfless service). 🙏🎶 It was wonderful to see people from different backgrounds coming together in friendship, sharing food and celebrating community spirit. 🤝 At a time when there is so much division, let’s choose peace, respect, understanding and unity. 🕊️❤️

Two very special events across two of our key wards, Cranbrook and Ilford Town. 💙💛 An opportunity to thank our many loyal volunteers for their hard work and dedication, and to celebrate the achievements of our Redbridge Independent councillors. Our success belongs to everyone who has given their time, energy and support to help us deliver real change for local people. Thank you for being part of the journey. Together, we will continue building a stronger movement across Redbridge. Local People. Real Change.

Redbridge Foodbank does a fantastic job supporting local people facing food poverty. 🙏🏼 Today, our Redbridge Independent councillors met the incredible staff and volunteers who make this vital service possible, including Fundraiser James Dunn and Manager Jocelyn Davis. They work for the anti-poverty charity Trussell and help run the Foodbank alongside dedicated volunteers across five sites. Redbridge Foodbank assists residents of all backgrounds, ages and circumstances. As well as providing emergency food, its sites offer referrals to Citizens Advice and connect people with other essential services to help address the underlying challenges they face. They need more people to support their vital work by: 💷 Donating money 🙋‍♀️ Volunteering 🥫 Donating food 🎉 Helping with events Every contribution makes a difference. Please support Redbridge Foodbank and help it continue to be there for people across our community when they need a helping hand. ❤️ Find out how to donate food here: redbridge.foodbank.org.uk/give-help/dona…

Our Redbridge Independent councillors joined the Healthy Redbridge Bus team today at Chadwell Heath Central Mosque. Staff from Doctors House Surgery provided free health checks, including BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels. We are fortunate to have councillors with extensive experience as long-serving GPs, senior NHS managers and a senior health commissioner. Their expertise helps us understand our communities’ health needs and champion better local services. Thank you to everyone involved in bringing preventative healthcare directly to residents. Good luck to everyone across Redbridge and beyond receiving their A-level results today! 🎓 Whatever your results, be proud of how far you’ve come and look forward with confidence to the opportunities ahead. Wishing you every success for the future!

Really important resurfacing work is underway on Wanstead Lane. One of our RI Councillors for Cranbrook went along to see the work and thank the Highways team for their efforts. It’s improvements like these that make a real difference to residents’ day-to-day lives. Pleased to hear the works are on track to finish on time.

A man stabs 3 women, including a pregnant woman, in Paris. The man was detained by an off-duty police officer. Awful situation, I sympathise. I hope the victims make a quick recovery.

@bholination IT cell very active

Looks like mass murder was planned against Muslims in the UK! Islamophobia needs to be taken seriously. In recent times we have seen a woman being deliberately knocked over in a hit and run, imams and mosques attacked - one just recently in a neighbouring borough - something needs to be done urgently. Hate speech needs to be called out, the media needs to report these incidents and politicians and police need to take the threats seriously before lives are lost. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Today, Redbridge Independents joined residents, faith leaders and community representatives at Redbridge Town Hall to remember the victims of the Srebrenica genocide. "Never Again" must mean never again for anyone, anywhere. This a universal principle, not one applied selectively. We stand against hatred, persecution and injustice, and reaffirm our commitment to peace, justice, human dignity and accountability for ALL. #Srebrenica

On Friday, 26 June, I wrote to @Jas_Athwal asking him to confirm who managed his rental properties and whether he has received any financial or enforcement penalties. This is not a political attack but a request for transparency and accountability. I commend @Andywalker1945 for his persistence in trying to find answers. Greater transparency could end speculation, reduce Council time spent on FOIs and legal advice. I hope @redbridgelabour councillors make the same request. I also hope @Jas_Athwal responds positively so residents get the clarity they deserve.

On behalf of their client, Zara Sultana, Bindmans Media and Information Law Practise Group requires that I publish the following statement on X, and that such statement must be clearly visible and pinned to my profile for a continuous period of no less than 24 hours: “On 30 March 2026, I published a post on my X account addressed to Zarah Sultana in which I stated that she encourages and incites violence and is friends with terrorists. Those statements are false. I was wrong and offer my sincere apologies to Ms Sultana for the harm and distress caused to her.” It is my very great pleasure to do this, and I reiterate my sincere and repeated offer to meet with Miss Zara Sultana in person to resolve our differences.

Today our newly elected councillors entered the Town Hall to collect their passes, sign the papers, and get to work. No slogans. No excuses. Just action. The fight for our communities has officially begun. #RI4Change
