3,450 pounds of garbage were left behind on Lake Tahoe after 4th of July weekend, which is over twice the haul from the year before. "Patriotic" Americans leaving behind thousands of pounds of trash for environmentalists to clean up is a perfect metaphor for our country's future.

No matter how many times I read about this insane Houston highway expansion proposal—being imposed on the city by the state—I get mad all over again. How did we not learn our lesson 50 years ago?
This 433 unit apartment building in downtown Houston served by light rail is now vacant and slated to be demolished for a highway widening project. In the year 2022.

I've had a lot of convos around this lately. Metro Detroit had ~3.9 million people in 1970. Now, it has ~3.5 million. Now think of every new road, building, business, freeway, school, etc. that was built in our area since 1970, to serve FEWER people since then. 1/3
