The news of Robbie Robertson’s death today at the age of 80 is stunning. From his days with the Band and Dylan on, he seemed so youthful, sharp and alert, always looking forward to something. Such great songs: The Weight, Dixie Down. Classic rock figure. variety.com/2023/music/new…
@roberthilburn Very sad to hear this.Recently watched his scene with Chuck Berry on the deluxe version of the DVD of Hail Hail R&R where Chuck is so relaxed being with him he starts reciting some long classic poems.Robertson was such an important figure in rock and a real hall of famer.
@roberthilburn Shocking. The world just became a less interesting place.
@roberthilburn Just chatted with him at Native American event at Academy Museum a couple of years ago and he seemed in splendid great health. Funny, sharp, hip. Buoyant. I don’t like today. Or what it portends for my last remaining music heroes. At all. The Band. Forever.
@roberthilburn @SteveMarinucci Another sad day for the Rock World. RIP Robbie Roberts!
@roberthilburn Not to forget the rollicking Cripple Creek - he wrote all of them Up on Cripple Creek by AndoDoug on #SoundCloud on.soundcloud.com/cvB2V
@roberthilburn OMG, very sorry to hear it I think The Band's first two records are majestic... with rare insight and soulfulness.
