When I was at secondary school (state run comprehensive) they told us frequently about how having children ruins your life. Then they brought nurses in to administer contraceptive implants to the girls just in case we tried anyway. Every government I have lived under has gone out of its way to suppress the native birth rate. Pushing women into the workforce, running up house prices with fake money, sending good jobs overseas etc. all serve to make family life - which is Life - seem impossible and unappealing. Then they tell us we need immigrants to fill the shortfall left by the inevitable reduction in births. Pretty sinister. It’s a long term plan.
When did every job become a profession? You don’t need a level 1 to serve on a bar. You don’t need a C&G to stand on a festival site pointing to the car park and you definitely shouldn’t take an apprentice wage for such things. Every job I wandered thoughtlessly into as a teenager is now being gatekept by idle technocrats who speak of opportunity whilst putting artificial hurdles in the way of employers and employees, especially young and low-skilled workers. Appending qualification requirements to humdrum jobs seems to be a way for the government to create the impression of an economy which creates good quality jobs. It also keeps youth labour cheap whilst generating opportunities for immigrants who have priority access to training and preference (DEI) in hiring. They do create jobs this way, however. If only by creating tons of busy work someone has to do. Hard to pin down an actual figure but the industry is worth billions, much of it public money.

Immigration has done its part to maintain house prices and push rents up. That is, to a large extent, the meaning behind the classic “good for the economy” line peddled by ministers. But the initial spike in prices happened back in the early 00’s, driven by a glut of cheap money. In the decade prior houses had been ~4x the average income, increasing to ~8x by 2008. This state of affairs gained a permanent guarantee with the bailouts and growth across the economy - most notably the housing market - has been largely stagnant since. Immigration facilitates the mass transfer of funds from the treasury into the hands of slum landlords who will turn anything into a HMO. This skews prices severely, particularly when you have the Home Office paying above-market rates on long term contracts. It also helps Brenda to retire on a 500k pot accrued by owning bricks. It would be more accurate to say that the housing market drives immigration, rather than the other way around. Nevertheless it remains true that this small island is hideously overrun. The mass deportation of millions with no ties to this place would be a boon for anyone left, provided they’re not looking to make their money on cheap labour or overpriced accommodation. Those things are going away.
@andyburnham Total bullshit. Immigration is THE driving reason behind outrageous house/rent costs, and if we deport millions of freeloaders and illegals, houses will become affordable again for young British families. That is exactly what Restore Britain will do.
They could stop the boats in a day if they wanted to. They don’t because the controversy it generates completely poisons the debate around immigration. You are being played.

The immigration crisis is a matter of porous borders, confetti visas and the global trading system. The amateur sailing club is a red herring and anyone who leads a conversation about immigration into this country by talking about them is suspicious. Remove them all. Every foreigner and the freaks who brought them in too. 🏴
