This is a great pity, and illustrates the human side of the BBC closing down programme reporting teams. A major loss to audiences, too. @MarkUrban01’s tweets last night were really illuminating, and made me wish the classic Newsnight was live on TV.

@rogermosey @tshep42 @MarkUrban01 We can only hope that, once this government has gone; the next one will value the BBC as the national/international asset that it is and allow it to restore itself and the services it has been forced to (temporarily) close. 🤞🏻
@rogermosey @MarkUrban01 100% – a huge loss to the BBC. I just hope he carries on sharing his wit and wisdom with audiences.
@rogermosey @MarkUrban01 I am so sorry @MarkUrban01 will be leaving the BBC. He has always been one of the best reporters/presenters @BBCNewsnight and has brought an admirable intelligence to all the subjects he has covered. I wish him well for the future.
@rogermosey @MarkUrban01 It's a huge loss and a terrible waste.
@rogermosey @back_the_BBC @MarkUrban01 Newsnight will be gutted and viewing figures will go down and they will use that as an excuse to end it.
@rogermosey @MarkUrban01 Classic Newsnight ended 14 years ago
@rogermosey @MarkUrban01 Reminiscent of what was done to informed sport coverage under your tenure especially racing
@rogermosey @MarkUrban01 The BBC is slowly being dismembered piece by piece. Local Radio changes angered its most loyal audience base and Newsnight is yet another sign of what’s to follow. However the suits spin it the future of the BBC is bleak.
@rogermosey @lewis_goodall @MarkUrban01 You lose, experience, knowledge and wisdom at your peril
