@BtcSpartacus @OutbackAdventu2 @thenewarea51 Yes, compressor stall would be an obvious assessment as well.

@OutbackAdventu2 @Andrea_Migone @Stevest48366771 @Aviation_Intel Think the hesitance isn’t lack of supply in general, but the Vipers available and wiling to be provided aren’t exactly the right ones for this particular OE.

@SumOfAllTears @feelinglistless @DavidJRichardss @ProfPaulPoast @SevaUT Significantly. First, effective colonial period wasn’t long considering the distractions of two world wars. Second, European industrialization was driven by its pre-colonial, colonial, post colonial alongside its imperialistic activities in the continent and elsewhere.

@DavidJRichardss @ProfPaulPoast @SevaUT European colonialists had to steal indigenous African medical practices to protect themselves from local conditions, and then shipped those findings to patent them in Europe. “Education” was a means of furthering the colonial project by reliance of forced labor thru clerks;

@jcanfil Please tell me more about what test programs entail from your wide experience in aviation. Tell me more about how unrealistic it is for missiles to be stuck on hard points, bird strikes resulting in shattered canopies, failed ejection sequences, crashes, engine failure in flight.

Don’t also tell him about how long it took to test radar altimeters on US fighter jets. Sounds simple right? Also. The plot is nothing like Top Gun, a love story that’s very light on technical aviation themes, which this film appears to be about.

This seems like a very realistic portrayal of what actual test flying and military flying entails. Not sure if the Professor here is surprised his rose tinted view of combat aviation were given a small dose of reality. Wait until he learns American U2 pilots wear diapers!

The airframes (mostly J-11s) fare no better. Engines repeatedly flame out. Missiles get stuck on their hardpoints. One plane crashes near a school. There are at least three ejections. When a pilot pulls the ejection handle, nothing happens. A bird strike shatters a canopy.

@steffanwatkins Depends. Mostly used to be a reliable method of connecting dismembered limbs to their specific owner after getting blown up by IEDs in Iraq and Afghanistan. (They had a tendency to split torsos from lower limbs.)

@stevehouf Training civilians in a largely peaceful, democratic and highly advanced country to think and act like they’re in a war zone says a lot, and it’s not the best way to cure the rot that is gun violence.
