99% of people struggle with memory not because they’re “bad at learning”—but because they’ve never learned the right way. If you found this thread useful, drop a comment and share your own experiences. Follow for more insights around self education. 🔥
The Strategy Want to remember anything forever? Follow this: 1. Engage deeply → Focus. 2. Repeat strategically → Spaced repetition. 3. Retrieve consistently → Active recall. 4. Apply & teach → Use the info. Memory is a skill. Train it. Master anything.
Your brain is a complex system. Most people never optimize it. If you forget things easily, it’s not your fault - you were never taught how memory works. Here’s how to retain information effortlessly (and never waste time again): 🧠👇
@noahinx Very good point - also an essential!
What are your essential phrases to have learnt when you travel? I feel like: "Hello" / "Excuse Me" "I need Help" / "Do you speak (...)" and "I'd like a beer" Must overwhelmingly top the charts! #langtwt
@l3_ona7 I’ve found for me translating songs to English then listening to them and paying attention to the structure helps me learn the specific vocab pretty well
@MLautmer Not too long - very much still a beginner but I’m going to Crete this year so getting conversational for then 🤞
@MLautmer Haven’t tried out loads - definitely struggling to pronounce Greek with a Spanish accent!
@BritishBC Great minds and all that! 😉
@BritishBC Awesome how you finding it? Arabic is definitely an upcoming language for myself but struggling between picking a dialect! Thinking MSA into Gulf might be the root I take
@BritishBC Are you specifically learning MSA or any dialects as well?
@worldpoliglota Absolutely! Best part about learning a new language is getting to speak to new people
