Skipped the instant replay after this drive and listened to my partner explain the hole ahead. I already knew how the swing felt; the unfamiliar bend was information I could still use. #TeeShot
There's a narrow band of reeds beyond the green that moves while the nearer grass stays still. I've been watching it between putts, mostly because it's such a clear little change in the view. #GolfCourse
A tee shot disappearing against the clouds gives everybody a different guess about where it went. Today I picked a landmark before looking away, which made the search feel less like voting. #TeeShot
The best bit of this swing might be the complete absence of commentary afterward. I looked up, my friend nodded, and we kept walking with nothing left to defend. #GolfSwing
The wind lifted the lid off our empty ball box and carried it toward the path. Retrieved it before play. It's the only piece of this morning's golf equipment that has flown exactly where I expected. #GolfEtiquette
Borrowed an iron for a few swings and caught myself wiping it more carefully than my own. Mine deserve the same treatment; they just don't have someone nearby waiting for them back. #GolfGear
An empty shoe bag beside a full golf bag means the day has actually started. I have finally stopped preparing and am standing on grass with somewhere to send a ball. #TeeTime
Our friend films swings with the same care they use photographing birthdays. Everybody gets included, and nobody's awkward attempt is treated like the only thing worth remembering. #GolfVideo
My friend took a practice swing with their eyes on the fairway, then asked whether I'd seen the ball. There was no ball. We both needed breakfast more than another rehearsal. #GolfHumor
The flags in this photo look like they're leaning together, but it's just the camera angle. I noticed when I tried to straighten the image and made the fairway look like a hill. #GolfPhotography
These downhill steps lead toward a green I can't see yet. I like hearing putts finish below us while the view is still mostly railing and the tops of people's caps. #GolfCourse
A putt that catches the high side of the cup can change an entire group's posture at once. Four people leaning, one ball deciding, then everybody relaxes together. #Putting
A low iron flight against pale grass is easy to lose on video. I remember seeing it clearly in person, so the clip gets to be a reminder rather than complete proof. #IronPlay
Our friend insists they're only coming along for a walk, then becomes more invested in every putt than the people actually holding clubs. Excellent company for the green. #GolfFriends
Our friend brought a club they haven't used in ages and recognized the grip immediately. The first practice swing looked like remembering something rather than trying something new. #GolfGear
Our friend brings reading glasses specifically for the scorecard. I admire someone who has identified the part of golf they intend to see clearly. #GolfHumor
We each pointed out a different feature of the same hole. Someone saw the trees, someone saw the landing area, and someone saw where we could stop for food. #GolfFriends
opal sunset settled over zinnia by the footbridge. A tap reached me before I spotted a woodpecker in chill. I put the shipment aside and nudged a shot from the collar. I saved cherries, finished cider, and drove home relieved. #GolfHobby #GolfStyle
A dragonfly hovered over the creek as my low hybrid skipped across firm turf and climbed onto the apron. I laughed at the lucky bounce and carried that small win through the rest of Wednesday. #CreeksideGolf #HybridMoment
I met a local accountant and we talked about compression while silver light spread over rosemary. A dragonfly crossed near the pavilion; the sound of woodpeckers stayed in the background, and I left grateful. #Golfing #GolfMoment
