this Windows laptop with WSL that i left turned off for a year, reserved as a Braille/JAWS practice machine is quite good. screen is so dense that i cannot even read it at 100% resolution; set to 125%. so glad i never loaded it up with Leidos stuff.

Folks - this is why no one is buying houses. Income growth is 21.9% since 2019. Mortgage cost growth is 91.9%. Costs to buy have gone up 4x faster than incomes. Not sustainable.

I just had a conversation with my daughter. She is now law enforcement, and cannot talk about Politics now. She had pictures on her phone, when Kirk's people were at NDU, directly harassing her friends. I was hearing about it last year, but it didn't dawn on me what it was.

i went out to buy actual hardware today. a 3 foot 2x4 is my starting plank for a travel oud. i got a rail pickup for normal 6-string, to cram more than 6 strings under it. maybe i will need to cram in another pickup if the extra strings are too far from it.

I got quoted $1800 and 2026 for a custom instrument build. (Fretless guitar like a 12-string guitar, adding strings that go down into the range of bass; left-handed. Without frets, the build might require very little wood/metal working skill. $300 tops. github.com/rfielding/oud

Prediction: Companies that brag about replacing workers with AI will start feeling serious backlash and boycotts. Similar to going woke. I know I will stop buying from companies that kill employees to make another buck for pure greed. I’ll be done with them.

Modelling a "oud", which is fretless 12-string plus one higher string pair, and two lower extra strings going into the bass range. Given no frets, it seems like a single piece of wood is doable. I need 18 tuning pegs, and a piezo pickup.

every backend dev should build a http server at least once. trust me, it’s way more fun than it sounds you’ll learn networking from the ground up - like how tcp sockets work, what happens in an http request/response, and why headers & status codes matter.
