In 2019, Portland police learned that convicted killer Christopher Knipe's DNA was a match for a rape kit collected in 2003. Despite that, police and prosecutors did not follow up with the victim. New from me: opb.org/article/2024/0…
I discovered the DNA match buried in hundreds of pages related to the homicide of Sean Kealiher, a well-known antifascist who Knipe killed in 2019. Kealiher's family has criticized Portland police for slow walking his death investigation. I asked experts what this DNA meant.
@ryanjhaas Of course the victim should be told, she would be relieved to know his ass is off the streets.... Imagine wondering everyday if your unknown rapist is around?
@ryanjhaas Holy shit, Ryan. I didn’t think this story could get wilder/more sad. Thanks for getting your hands dirty. Maybe one day we’ll get a follow up pod!
@ryanjhaas The guy Knipe ran over was a useless thug, so that situation is a wash. Public safety context: There are different kinds of rape, including the trashing of a downtown core by race-Marxists and drugged-out anarchists who call themselves "activists" to mask their criminality.
@ryanjhaas Too bad bad kkkops ain't held accountable. Not surprised just look at the Goldschmidt case.
