₦5,000 can become ₦5 million, but not because ₦5,000 itself is enough to do everything. It is because you can start from where you are and figure out how to increase what you have. I know this because I've been in an even worse position. I had less than ₦700 in my bank account. There were days I ate once, and there were days I didn't eat at all. Eventually, I had to stay with my parents because I knew that, at the very least, there would be food in the kitchen. I wasn't proud of the situation, but I understood that surviving was more important than pretending I had everything figured out. When you're broke, you have to become extremely resourceful. Ask for help. Reach out to people. Look for tiny jobs. Offer to do things people will pay you for. If someone gives you somewhere to stay, find a way to be useful to them. You don't have to remain dependent, but sometimes you need support while you rebuild. And no, you don't need to spend hundreds of thousands learning a skill. There are free courses, YouTube, communities, books, tutorials and people sharing valuable information online every single day. It doesn't even have to be a digital skill. Learn sales, catering, photography, hairdressing, repairs, baking, fashion, cleaning, anything that solves a problem people are willing to pay you for. I learned a skill. I started building in public. I started telling people what I could do. I used the internet to connect with people and find opportunities. My life literally changed. I made over $15,000 in my first year in tech, and that was my first time working outside university. I've gone from having less than ₦700 to working on projects across Europe, America and Australia, all from my little room in Nigeria. So when I say you can go from ₦5,000 to ₦5 million, I'm not saying ₦5,000 is some magical investment that will multiply itself. I'm saying ₦5,000 is not the end of your story. You can use what you have to survive, while using your time, skills, relationships, creativity and the internet to create more. And honestly, some of you have enough data to scroll for 10 hours, enough money to bet, enough money to entertain yourselves, but somehow don't have enough resources to learn something or look for an opportunity. I don't play betting. I've played before, but I'm not addicted to it. Because when you're trying to change your financial situation, you cannot keep looking for luck when you should be building an actual income stream. You can leave that broke position. But you have to be willing to do uncomfortable things. Ask for help. Start small. Take tiny jobs. Learn. Sell something. Become useful. Reach out to people. Keep trying. That's how you move from one spot to another.

I will do what I've always done since I was 16, when i was in unthinkable quagmires of poverty. Everytime I had a stretch of time, I lay out in the open, close my eyes and daydream. Everything I couldn't be in real life, I could be in my head. It made me temporarily sane.

Make it a habit to randomly appreciate people who help you - be it in the past, present or indirectly. Celebrate people who have given of themselves to you. Don't take it for granted or be entitled. Be it siblings, kids, friends, colleagues, even employees. Randomly send them a thank you message. Don't wait till they die before you write a long letter they won't see. If you don't know how to start, send them this post and say they crossed your mind and you just want to say thank you for everything. No man is an island and no one owes us anything. Gratitude therefore is everything.
