easy to dogpile, much harder to build. yes, the software is not where it needs to be — full stop — and that's entirely on us. the overwhelming negative sentiment — what happened to optimism? what happened to pushing things forward?

@samsheffer Feedback is crucial. hate is not. Rooting for u and @CollinCornwell
@samsheffer Are you reflecting internally, or are you projecting the blame on the market? You launched a product, the market didn’t love it. Your move.
But this doesn’t feel like pushing things forward, it’s actually feels like pushing things backwards. The device and it’s software is limit you and there isn’t anything new this device can do or enable you to do. It’s feels like “let’s take the smartphone and reimagine the touch input”, that’s all. And the iPhone (when it lunched) not only enable you to do things with a more powerful input mechanism but it enable you do to things you couldn’t do before (or been very limited before). The novel thing about tech is the things it’s enable you to do, the “how” you do it comes after you enable it to be done in the first place.
@samsheffer Rooting for the AI Pin, but unfortunately, when you enter such a competitive space, you are going to be treated at the same level of the biggest tech companies. Hoping to see big improvements over time!
@samsheffer if im you i double-down on the "negative" press. such a golden opportunity. dont let this crisis go to waste.
lmao don’t even try it. this isn’t David vs Goliath, or a 2 person startup working out of a garage. startups like those get sympathy. you’re at a company with massive amounts of engineering talent, and $240M+ in funding. two things that are scarcely available to those with big ideas. yet the greatest thing y’all have built to date: a self destructive level of hype around your V1. from fashion show launches, to exclusive partnerships, and even a cliche warehouse launch video. ultra corny behaviour. now humane is finally deciding to come back down to earth, but not by choice, but instead due to the gravity of the situation. spare everyone the gaslighting, lock-in on fixing those latency issues, play down the “cool kids” act, and start speaking to your demographic. preferably before y’all theranos another industry 🤝
the negative sentiment is likely from people who blindly follow the influencers words without much thought. i haven’t received my pin yet, but regardless of the reviews, i intend to use it mainly as an aid while working. how it works out, i have no idea. at the end of the day, the two videos i’ve seen (MKBHD and Mrwhosetheboss) seem to speak truth. i don’t think they were off base. they were also both optimistic about it. what some viewers may have taken from that was the negativity. some people just want to find the next thing to hate. but not all. all this means is @Humane will just need to do more hard work. but don’t do the work to appease the influencers. do it to appease the product demand. do what’s necessary to make the product more fluid. the product will speak for itself when it’s ready. and if you made it this far, i have one suggestion off the rip before even seeing the Pin IRL. I’m not a fan of the “laser in” terminology. just sounds weird. i don’t know what is a better way to word it, but i’ve always thought that feature felt a bit like looking at the screen of a pip-boy from fall-out. i think it would be awesome if you guys were able to do something with the @Fallout team in the future for some type of app or feature. maybe a quest tracker or mini-map feature for when people go out on walks. that would be dope!
@samsheffer “optimism” shouldn’t require a monthly subscription
