Santa Monica is committed to taking proactive measures in preventing residents from facing homelessness by enhancing the availability of affordable housing, addressing behavioral health needs of our vulnerable individuals, and advocating for regional solutions.
This is a shameful post that must be removed. You act as if homelessness arises from lack of affordable housing yet you KNOW that 99% of the homeless in SM are drug addicts and most are from outside SM, coming here for free stuff, lack of prosecution, easy access to drugs. It’s time to finally admit what’s causing these regional/national issues and do your part to actually fix it using evidence-based means.
@santamonicacity Why do Santa Monica residents hahe to use our tax dollars to house the rest of the countries homeless. The homeless population in SM aren’t native SM. They come from elsewhere to take our tax payer resources.
@santamonicacity Until you remove the NGO's and NPO's out of the equation, you're setting up yourselves up for failure. You can virtue signal all you want to, but eliminating the NGO's and NPO's has to be part of the game plan.
@santamonicacity Except the vast majority of the homeless are addicts who come to LA because they know they can get away with anything We should be taking care of our veterans and our OWN first before coddling these addicts and vagrants
@santamonicacity Santa Monica, "the home of the homeless" since the mid 1980s. You ruined a lovely city, inviting derelicts onto the front lawn of City Hall and to camp on city streets. Now it's all metastasized throughout the country. Congratulations.
@santamonicacity These are drug addicted people. They aren’t out there because they can’t afford a condo
