Question for people who don't let their 3yo have any screentime: do you have daycare, drop off preschool, a nanny, family help, a work/sah spouse, or does the kid still nap?
@sarahradz_ We cheat by doing a ton of audio (using a Yoto player). It's not quite as engaging as screens, but absorbs enough of my 3yos attention that I can wash a dish while he listens and smashes two fire trucks together.
@sarahradz_ Drop off preschool 4 days; they still napped. We are a 2 home family. Though they spent some time at Dad’s, I still had majority time. Did chores when kiddo was w dad as much as possible. Screen time more than 15 min created power struggles, overstimulation, better to go without
@sarahradz_ Minimal screens and they whine, scream, participate, or find something else to do. Many littles at home and I assume women...did chores in the old days and the kids....whined, screamed, helped, or found something else to amuse themselves.
@sarahradz_ I know a few families raising their children without internet. So no tablets, smart tvs, laptops, etc. It's a mix of SAH spouses and very close knit families who help each other out.
@sarahradz_ 💯. We were very a limited screens home until Baby 2 entered and our oldest (tho only 2.5yo) stopped napping. Screens entered because we needed a damn break.
@sarahradz_ We do screen time for 3.5yo only on the weekend. We absolutely have daycare during the week. Naps are hit or miss on the weekend. We only do movies/TV (no phones/tablets) and limit how much, usually a bit in the morning and before dinner.
