Sometimes we have to ask ourselves: Do we want God no matter who he really is? or Do we want our idea of God no matter who he really is? There's a difference and it matters. A lot.

2 Cor 2 this AM. Paul urged readers to forgive someone who caused pain “so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his schemes.” (V.11) Few things make us more vulnerable to the enemy’s schemes than unforgiveness. It makes us a plaything to him.

The victim-blaming comments over on the @BaptistPress Facebook page about the latest allegations of sexual grooming and abuse by a former seminary professor are exactly why abuse victims don’t speak up. What a way to empower the evil that wills to destroy people and the church.

Advent thought: I am bothered by the constant refrain "This is not who I am" or "This is not who we are." People and nations alike are "a mingled yarn, good and ill together" (S'peare). Better to say "this is not who we can be," or "not what I hope to be, by the grace of God."

Don’t think your love for that one person was wasted because it was not reciprocated. Love never fails. It may have failed to do what you wanted it to but, if you’ll offer that unrequited love to God to do with as He pleases, He’ll use your large heart to extend His love to many.

I love the Lord. Been pleading for clarity on a matter for days. This AM I finally get it 2 seconds (slight exag) before the time I absolutely must have it. Grinning thinking of something my mentor used to say: God is never late but He misses a few good opportunities to be early.
