If there are delays, I imagine that I'll post some stats that breakdown the busiest Medicare knee &/or hip replacers by residency program, post-residency fellowship type & program if one, & undergraduate school just to offer some insight into their professional origins.

One example where performance & opportunism intersect is the orthopaedist who farms out too much of his/her surgical & postoperative responsibilities to trainees or other subordinates so as to make time for other tasks that skew opportunistic. They, too, are easy to flag.

Just as knee/hip makers should not hitch their corporate wagons to poorer performing orthopaedists, they should also avoid those engaged in opportunistic me-first behavioral patterns as it is now very easy for data analysts to spot both adverse traits & reveal them to patients.

Personal makeup/character is a very underrated facet of athletes engaged in professional team sports & the same holds true for orthopaedic surgeons.

Parallels exist in professional sports, as an athlete may get a draft/signing bonus boost given what school they attended but once they begin to compete it is their performance that disproportionately affects how the public (fans) & their & other organizations ($) value them.

In a modern/future world where US patients will be able to access performance data on individual knee/hip replacers, no one will care where said surgeon practices or where they trained or for how long.

In recruiting surgeon design collaborators/consultants, such knee/hip makers often tend to prioritize the status/fame of institution where the surgeon practices &/or similar aspects related to the surgeon's training background.

The backup plan is to supply all info to the general public & provide prospective knee/hip replacement patients w/ a detailed tool to assist them in finding a surgeon, weighting the experience/volume/performance/payments/personality ratings however they choose.

The system is designed to be used by medical device companies (esp. knee/hip makers) as a surgeon locator. Think of it as a match/eharmony concept for medical device companies that shrinks the 10000 US Medicare knee/hip replacers down to the few 100 that best meet its objectives.

In the "Blocks" section to the right of the Airtable webpage that pops up, 2 view options exist for browsing a surgeon's data. Top 1 is a full-detail landscape size page. Bottom 1 is more streamlined smartphone layout display. Click on ▶️ view the layout & scroll through doctors.
