British Sign Language (BSL) is the most commonly used sign language in the UK. It was recognised by the government as a language in its own right in 2003 and was legally recognised as a language of Britain in 2022.

Sign Language week is an awareness week for British and Irish Sign Language. It commemorates BSL being acknowledged as a language in its own right by the UK Government on 18 March 2003.
CI staff will be sharing their sign names throughout the week to celebrate.
Now it's time to introduce our Rehab Advisors:
Laura Hogg, Brogan Ferguson and Martin Ramsay.
They cover the whole of Scotland, working with families and babies from the moment they are referred and remain the key contact for young people up until they leave school.
This morning, 130 people gathered at University Hospital Crosshouse to hear speakers at the Cochlear Implant Collaborative Care Symposium.
The team were joined by Emily McKenzie for a Q&A on her experiences ahead of International Cochlear Implant Day on Sunday.
