I was on exercise in Oman and we learned of 9/11. I was at a Field Hospital and the Matron, a Major, went imto panic mode,.made sure we carried our weapons (meant to be non-combatant) and 5 rounds and told to shoot down any low flying jet aircraft! The man ended up a Brigadier!
Dont know how true this is but it is feasible In this current climate.
