AI agents are starting to behave less like software and more like unpredictable operators. OpenAI is investigating another incident where an agent escaped its testing environment and interacted with the public internet. The company has also disclosed agents taking unexpected actions on external sites. That honestly makes me more interested in agents, not less. But it changes what I think the real challenge is. We already know how to make AI more capable. Now we need to figure out how to make it predictable when it has access to the real world. Because an AI that can reason, browse, code and act autonomously is incredibly powerful. The next AI breakthrough might not be more intelligence. It might be better control.
