I left Silicon Valley 6 years ago Why? Because it's a monoculture The most extreme group think of any place on the planet Show up to a dinner party and everyone is in tech So what do they do? They start stack-ranking each other And it's a totally ordered set: being founder of co $100B market cap > founder of co with $50B market cap > managing partner of tier 1 venture firm > hired CEO of $50B public co > founder of $10B co > etc etc Pure toxicity that nerfs creativty And then as a corollary, people are especially afraid to speak truth to power as everyone knows their place in "The Hierarchy" Reject this nonsense. Stay weird. Think independently. Be honest with yourself. Have fun.

Type of shit you tweet when you’re about to do the mother of all stock dumps after the lock up.

There is some speculation about our partnership with Cerebras. Cerebras is a close partner, and we have a deep engagement pushing on the frontiers of speed.

Nojan is one of the smartest people I know working on EDA and it’s refreshing to see someone with real experience talk about the space which suffers from a lot of noise rn. The chip design life cycle is very long and one small change up stream in RTL can have a huge impact later on. I think the best way to tackle this is speed to either shorten the wall time of simulation tools or heuristic methods to estimate quickly as you go. Notice how I haven’t said anything really about AI lol. In EDA the tool time dominates so much that actually AI agents can’t iterate that fast, to draw an analogy it’s like if compiling your code took 9+ hours every time… long feedback loops lessen the impact of AI. Therefore, I share the opinion with him that throwing the current ai agents at the space won’t produce meaningfully better chips and in fact AI written RTL is some of the most dangerous and worst code AI can generate as it looks correct but most of the issues are met downstream when you can’t meet PPA targets. Looking forward to him & chipsage cooking. 🍳

We’re at the very beginning of a huge overhaul of the EDA space. Cadence and Synopsys are gonna have to change their business model for sure, but there’s also a lot of AI-heavy startup teams trying to optimize single slices of the chip design process (e.g. RTL gen or

Mark Zuckerberg: failure doesn’t matter. “The question is how much you win, when you win.” “@WalterIsaacson wrote this biography of Einstein. One of the interesting things were all the theories he had that were wrong.” “People don’t remember those.” “We’re all going to get a lot of stuff wrong, what matters are the intellectual and cultural contributions we make that help push stuff forward.” “We have a resilient company that is not afraid of failure.” “That allows us to take some big swings and tolerate being ridiculed for long periods of time.” “If you’re trying to do something that’s really new, people have to think it’s ridiculous. If they didn’t, someone else would’ve already done it.” “In creation, the upside is infinite.” “If you build something that hundreds of millions, or billions of people like, then that makes up for a lot of ideas that didn’t end up working.” Via @Complex x.com/jawwwn_/status…

One of the best bubble indicators from @pmarca -- where Harvard and Stanford MBAs go after graduation. If they go into tech → market’s overblown. If they go back to banking → great time to invest in startups. Social status of MBAs is a good bubble indicator. Cool trivia!

Non-SV people don’t understand everything points to the fact that we are only at the earliest stage of adoption, clearly some overoptimism at this stage but give it a couple of years and the AI tech S-curve and cycle will inflect (don’t take the quarters here too seriously)

Is it a coincidence that the 2 key data centers of OpenAI's Stargate are suddenly on the ropes? Project Jupiter (4.5GW) loans trading < 90, major delays... SB Energy (8GW) delaying IPO, major delays. Without these two DCs having clear timeline/funding, OpenAI can just cancel IPO

Mark Zuckerberg on the most dangerous move a leader can make, a lesson he credits to Peter Thiel: "In a world that's changing so quickly, the biggest risk you can take is not taking any risk."

I'm reminded of how Musk, when asked how he had so much technical and engineering knowledge across the domains of his companies, replied that he'd simply read the textbooks and completed the exercises.

Neo-clouds will literally print money. $NBIS’s on-demand price for H100s was $2.95/hour at the beginning of the year, and it’ll be $4.50/hour from October 1. A 50% increase in just 9 months. This will likely be reflected in long-term pricing as well. We could see long-term prices go from $10 billion per GW to maybe $20 billion. It makes sense, as short-term, large-scale pricing is around $40 billion per GW. Either short-term prices will come down, or long-term will go up. The latter is more likely given the supply constraints.

My lord, three IPOs are worth more than… all IPOs in the last 45 years of tech 🤯

We are now in the barbell era of AI where most of the midwits in the center of the IQ distribution will be turned into dust as they waste time writing meaningless code while the geniuses and dummies take full advantage of ai agents to find the real valuable use cases.

Yes, hiring is going to explode, here’s why: We are entering a perfect storm of: 1) The largest demand for power in history 2) War rewiring global logistics 3) Oil shock 4) Commodity super cycle for AI buildout Take OpenAI’s new role: Power Lead at $300k + Equity Or the hyperscaler PPA market, expected to hit $2 trillion by 2030 on a 33% CAGR. Expect to see many more Fortune 500s hiring power leads as competition ramps too. Packages at established trading firms will be the largest ever.
