It's day 163 of reminding the @CityofEdmonton that barriers to accessibility for persons with disabilities are NOT merely inconveniences. They are human rights issues. It's not acceptable to respond to human rights violations with "Sorry for the inconvenience". The city certainly wouldn't apologize for the inconvenience if a person wasn't allowed to participate in the grand opening of a city facility due to their skin color, yet this is what they say when it's due to a disability. So we're calling on them to provide proper training on inclusivity and ableism to staff, managers, decision makers and council members.
