“I think in California, there is a social norm around masking,” said Arnab Mukherjea, chair of Cal State East Bay’s public health department. “If you go outside, 75% of people are wearing masks.” sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…
@sfchronicle Thank you folks for wearing mask & adding further protection to every human on the planet! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
@sfchronicle Seems to be different the further north you get - I'd say only 50% or fewer are masking up where I am, unfortunately, if my last Target trip is anything to go by.
@sfchronicle Keep on masking, please. We are not out of the woods yet.
@sfchronicle Ummm. No. I live in the Bay and am all over the bay. 75% of people are not wearing masks outside - which is good because we don’t need to wear masks outdoors where transmission rarely (if ever) occurs. And indoors (bars, restaurants) they come off fast.
@sfchronicle Or has California just achieved herd immunity after a rapid surge last year? I always wonder why the history is discredited. California had the worst numbers in the country for like a year. Did the virus just run its course and now the benefits are showing?
@sfchronicle Absolutely. Here in Santa Cruz County, it's glaring when u see anyone WITHOUT a mask!
@sfchronicle California is 18th in total cases as of 9/17/21 statista.com/statistics/110… and 20th in deaths per 100,000: statista.com/statistics/110… Couldn't read the article due to pay wall.
@sfchronicle @KTVU 👇 😷 in restaurants and bar are excepted in SF. “…masks are required in nearly all indoor public settings — restaurants and bars being the main exceptions, though San Francisco, Berkeley and Contra Costa County require people to be vaccinated to enter those venues.”

@sfchronicle Yes, clearly people wearing masks outside and not vaccines is the reason! 🤦🏼♂️
