Can only Black people get sickle cell? Sickle cell trait is an inherited blood disorder that affects 1 million to 3 million Americans and 8 to 10 percent of African Americans. Sickle cell trait can also affect Hispanics, South Asians, Caucasians from Southern Europe.

Let’s learn about, Sickle Cell Trait (SCT) People who have SCT inherit one sickle cell gene (“S”) from one parent and one normal gene (“A”) from the other parent. This is called sickle cell trait (SCT). People with SCT usually do not have any of the signs of the disease.
Sickle cell anemia (SCD) is an inherited disorder of the hemoglobin in blood. Sickle cell anemia requires the inheritance of two sickle cell genes. Sickle cell trait, which is the inheritance of one sickle gene, almost never causes problems.
