Building products and occasionally making questionable decisions. Curious about AI, tech, business and pretty much everything in between!Joined November 2021
When designing, choose clarity over complexity. The best layout is the one users don't have to think about.
The best interaction is the one that feels obvious. The best solution is the one that solves the problem without being noticed.
15 lessons from designing digital products:
1. design for the user's mental model, not your own
2. clarity is a feature
3. the best onboarding feels like the product, not a tutorial
4. mobile-first is a constraint that improves everything
5. if users need a tooltip, the design already failed
6. B2B users are people too
7. test with five users. you will find most of the problems
8. a clean interface hides a lot of hard decisions
9. the problem behind the problem is the real brief
10. friction is a design choice, not an accident
11. good UX is invisible. bad UX is all anyone talks about
12. your first version should embarrass you a little
13. consistency builds trust faster than delight
14. designing for AI means designing for uncertainty
15. you cannot research your way out of a bad assumption. ship it and learn
AI is changing how product design takes shape.
Designers can test isolated ideas around UI, logic, and data before the full system exists. As patterns emerge across those solutions, the product becomes clearer.
The system is discovered one solved problem at a time.
A product can have many launches.
Change the audience, sharpen the problem, rewrite the headline, highlight a different feature, adjust pricing, redesign the landing page.
One product, multiple experiments. Keep learning until it clicks with users.
What if we've been building products backwards?
The old playbook:
Build the product.
Product attracts users.
Users create the ecosystem.
What if AI flips that?
Imagine an AI that learns your workflows, your edge cases, your decision patterns, months before any hardware or premium tier exists.
It knows how you think.
You've built a history with it.
Then the "real" product launches.
You're not onboarding a new tool.
You're giving a relationship a new surface.
That reframes everything: acquisition, retention, pricing, onboarding. The ecosystem arrives first and the product is just the next layer.
The moat is the relationship, not the feature set.
early PMs always want to ship the next big thing. understandable.
but your real edge comes from knowing one problem better than anyone else. depth beats breadth when everyone can build fast.
Two years in creator economy taught me this: shipping volume and product value stopped moving together.
AI gave every team infinite output. somehow the roadmap feels emptier than ever.
OpenAI just did something wild: They dropped open-weight models for the first time since GPT-2 in 2019. Meet GPT-OSS.
Why's everyone buzzing? Let’s break it down 🧵
When you train an LLM, you teach WHAT to answer.
With HRM, you teach HOW to answer. 🚀
