Dari segi "data sovereignty", apa yg PM kata mmg betul. In general, Malaysia is totally dependent on external providers for industry-grade mapping services due to decades of under-investment into developing our own tech. However, anyone saying to use Tuju as a replacement has obviously never used Tuju in their life (mmg pun, PM x bawa kereta sendiri kan). 1. Tuju does not have live traffic data. This alone is a total dealbreaker, period. 2. If we're talking about actually replacing Waze, the key is the DATA. Key components are: - The basemap (peta Malaysia dgn lat/lon yg tepat bagi semua alamat) - Live traffic information (need critical mass of users sharing their live location) - The optimisation layer (processing all the data to give users the fastest route) From a data perspective, Tuju is a 0/10 app. Tak percaya, pergi dig sendiri - Tuju themselves are using Google Maps API underneath. Since Google owns Waze, this is pretty hilarious and shows that whoever advised PM knows nothing about it 😂 3. In terms of UI/UX quality, Tuju is maybe a 3/10 application at best. I've seen better navigation apps vibecoded by 12yo students. However, are we surprised? Malaysians mmg dah biasa dah - apa² pun mengenai GovTech, biasa mmg je laut dari segi implementation. Tuju is just the latest in a long line of 🤡 All in all, just another day in the life of a user of Msian gov apps.

App Tuju ni dari segi niat dah bagus. Tapi UI/UX tu bagi la frontend coder yang handle. Jangan lah suruh backend coder yang buatkan frontend. Kalau takde bajet, guna vibe coding jer. Gemini 3 pro yang noob tu pun boleh buat frontend lagi lawa dari yang ini.

Hi @hannahyeoh, salam sejahtera I think the policy is silly and disconnected from reality, but I appreciate you trying to do something. No need to "work with Zus to collect the data....analyse the pattern". Feel free to ask your officers to contact me - using only open-source data (public transport ridership, traffic cams, Google Maps), I can already show you the time distribution of travel into KL in the morning, and out of KL in the evening. And if you add the additional data which gov has access to, you'll get an even richer picture. Hint: It's massively driven by the time people send their kids to school, and your policy will barely move the needle.
