I don't know why this hasn't received more publicity, but this fifty-foot sculpture was unveiled recently in South Dakota.

Rest in Power, Queen Nichelle Nichols 👏🏽 Her family just won a $13 million wrongful death lawsuit against the New Mexico hospital that failed to properly diagnose and treat the legendary “Star Trek” star before her passing. After years of fighting for justice, this verdict brings a powerful sense of accountability and closure. Nichelle Nichols wasn’t just Uhura — she was a trailblazer who broke barriers on screen, helped recruit the first women and people of color for NASA, and inspired generations with her grace, talent, and strength. Even in death, her light continues to shine through her family’s determination. This victory is bittersweet, but it’s a reminder that truth and justice can still prevail. Thank you for paving the way, Ms. Nichols. Your legacy lives on forever. Sending love and strength to her family during this moment. You did that for her.👏🏾

THE BLIZZARD OF 2026 SNOWFALL FORECAST (initialized 12z 2/21) Good afternoon everyone! I hope you're all preparing for the upcoming storm that will impact the region tomorrow through Monday night. Let's break it down--here are my thoughts... We have two pieces of energy, currently situated over the Great Plains, that are set to come together and form a much larger, more impactful system, that will develop and tuck close off the New Jersey coastline Sunday evening. The coastal storm will rapidly intensify into a 960-970mb nor'easter, generating high wind gusts and sustained winds, especially along the coasts, Sunday night into Monday. High surf, beach erosion, and coastal flooding are anticipated. As for snow, this storm will generate an impressive amount of frontogenesis and lift in the atmosphere, particularly at 700mb, for a large region from Philadelphia to Boston. Snow ratios will be on the lower side, with a heavy, wet, concrete-like consistency. The majority of the heavy snowfall will commence from 8pm Sunday until 10am Monday, meaning that snow will have no issue sticking to any surface, so I'm anticipating high totals regardless, even in areas that briefly start as some rain. Snowfall rates will be between 2-4"/hr, and thundersnow, in my opinion, can be anticipated region wide, especially in the dashed area. Overviewing data and how it's interacting with current observations of our system back west, I'm anticipating a heavy snow band developing and pivoting across Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and into the New York City Metro overnight Sunday into Monday. This is called a deformation band. Guidance and data has been insistent on this showing up somewhere over Eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with it sitting over the region for at least 6-8 hours before the storm begins to exit the area. I believe that in these areas exists the chance of accumulations exceeding 24" with the provided dynamics explained above. Another maxima I'm looking at is over Southern New England, particularly the Providence-Boston corridor. Another deformation band looks increasingly likely to set up, stall, and pivot as the storm exits Monday evening. I believe this area also has the chance of seeing accumulations exceed 24" with the provided dynamics explained above. There will be a sharp cutoff across Central and Eastern Pennsylvania as subsidence will serve as an issue, particularly in the Susquehanna Valley, as the anticipated deformation band sets up over EPA/NJ. In my opinion, the greatest uncertainty of this system lies here--if this band sets up farther east, then much if not all of Eastern Pennsylvania will end up with lower snowfall totals. However, I'm banking on and remaining confident that favorable dynamics make it west of the Delaware River due to a rapid deepening low pressure that will be tucked pretty close to the New Jersey coastline. Regardless of how much snow you get, this storm will be very impactful for the entire region. Please listen to your local forecasters and begin preparing NOW. If you don’t want the vaccine because you don’t know what’s in it, then you shouldn’t ask for treatments like monoclonal antibodies or remdesivir once you’re hospitalized with Covid—unless you’re cool with what’s in them. Oh, you don’t know what’s in them? Hmm, didn’t think so.
