My game sold 1608 units so far, got 128 reviews (99% positive) and took ~650h to make. I wrote a little post-mortem with more statistics and learnings about wishlist, community building, marketing, how I identified a key theft and more: simonschreibt.de/gat/cozy-space… #gamedev #indiedev
@simonschreibt Great read, thanks for sharing! Somehow the key theft was the most shocking part to me, the audacity of some people…
@simonschreibt wow so cool! thank you. you inspired me a lot to learn about shaders and game art.. and today I also releasd my own game 🥳
@simonschreibt I appreciated a lot the transparency on all numbers in your post mortem. The learning section is a very good read, we rarely have such detailed insights on gamedev 👍
@simonschreibt @Luos_83 You did an awesome work, also on all the updates and keep it alive and posting all the time just awesome. On my side I just spend 2 years and about 4k hours or more just in core, plugins and engine changes and feels like never ending just for a basic game 🫠
@simonschreibt Wow, thanks so much for sharing the journey! Inspiring and grounding.
@simonschreibt Did was a really nice read. May I ask you how you dealt with web exports for Mac users (if)? I know that web exports in Godot 4 have issues with web exports due to the usage of `SharedArrayBuffer`s. In one of my tests on Itch.io the page froze for 2 minutes 🤓
@simonschreibt Great post, thanks for addign to the community with (more) knowledge! :) Small tip about that last google sheet tip - you can lock part of sheet and you don't have to scroll left/right everytime, it stays glued to the screen.
@simonschreibt Thanks for sharing Simon, congrats on the release! It’s no mean feat to actually get a game finished as a solo dev!
@simonschreibt SteamDeck and Linux users don't just use Wine or so ? Is the Linux port that needed? After all the changes I did with Unreal don't think it will work out of the box with all the new settings
@simonschreibt get/pay DangerouslyFunny (youtube) to play it. Trust me on this.
@simonschreibt Thank you for sharing this experience. So much useful insight for those of us who are on the journey right now.
