To my 6th grade teacher who enjoyed humiliating me in class, told my parents I was unteachable & incapable of learning more than the basics. I earned 2 college degrees & certification in stem cell transplant care so GFY. It was you, not me. I finally have the courage to say it.
After decades of hiding the shameful monster who tormented me I only had to speak out to find I've never been alone. You're all right here standing beside me, you've been here all along. Thank you so much for all the kind words of support. It was never us, it was them. 💙💙💙
@sissyroxx As someone who has taught 6th graders, I would NEVER say that to a child or their parents. You never know what’s going on in a student’s life to make judgements and at ages 11-12, they are still developing. Good job on all of your accomplishments and for moving past criticism!
@sissyroxx Mrs Helwig, ferocious as her name. “Thomas Roy, you should NOT become an English teacher. You are a born actor. So stop trying to be academic.” She was right, so I did. (She had the bun on hair, girdle she kept adjusting, and would rip your heart out)
@sissyroxx Thanks for sharing your feelings of liberation and validation! 👍👍👍👊🤜🤛
@sissyroxx @Berlidge There’s an old saying which I believe fits this moment: “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.” Congratulations on your accomplishments ❤️
