Being a nun is a choice.
@sleeepysandy This is almost as ridiculous as "queers for Palestine"
@sleeepysandy False equivalence. All Catholic women are not required to wear the coif.
@sleeepysandy But originally it's the same thing. Nuns' garb originated from Greco-Roman-then-Christian veiling. The idea of female modesty in obedience to patriarchal rules.
@sleeepysandy nuns make a choice of which religion, and can leave that religion should they later wants to. There is no punishment. That doesn't seem to be a possibility in Islamic states.
@sleeepysandy It's also a choice made as an adult. I see little girls in hijab all the time.
@sleeepysandy And they don't get beaten to death in the street if they remove their wimple.
@sleeepysandy And you can stop being a nun if you want to.
@sleeepysandy If I woman wants to wear the clothes, great. It’s when the ones who don’t want to and are forced to. I feel very lucky to not be forced to follow any religious teachings.
