It’s my son’s first year playing baseball and we went all out ordering team shirts for the family. Imagine our shock when every shirt and his jersey came back with his pre-adoption name on it 🥲
He was adopted by my husband in ‘20, so all of the shirts have my previous married name🥲 The forms asked for the name on his birth certificate so I put that down and sent a message saying what his actual name is, but his actual name apparently didn’t make it on the roster.
Back when we obtained the court order in 2020, our attorney was supposed to send it off to have his birth certificate changed, but when we ordered the birth certificate months later, we discovered it had not been changed.
Fast forward to now, we kept planning to go together as a family to get it all done in person but haven’t gotten around to it. I didn’t really think about them needing it for sports until I was already filling out the form. Lesson learned 🥲
@thatssocheeky I’m so sorry! they should have been more careful reading your message about his name though. this definitely seems like someone else dropped the ball here!
@smalltown_wife Yes but I can’t be mad. These people volunteer their time and we all make mistakes. If I had thought about it I would have asked to see the roster at the first practice and there wouldn’t have been an issue.
