Engineering software for utility-scale renewables. Two Windows apps: solar PV plant layout, and battery storage sizing + finance. Runs offline.solarlayout.app Bangalore, IndiaJoined September 2026
Robotic Module Cleaning counts the fleet from the placed layout: every cleaning line, every gap too wide for a standard bridge, and what bridging each one saves.
It never assumes a bridge.
New in 2.1: the same count on any plant DXF, with no layout needed.
SolarLayout Desktop 2.1 is out.
Earthing design and cleaning-robot sizing now run on the layout itself: the plant the software has already placed, not a spreadsheet rebuilt afterwards.
What's new 👇
The cable schedule: one sheet per control room, every string and feeder with its length, a recommended conductor size and the voltage drop.
DXF import: ponds, buildings, roads and transmission lines on named layers are kept clear. Several plots become a multi-plot site.
SolarLayout Desktop 2.0 is out.
A rebuilt workspace, more accurate cable routing, a cable schedule exported to Excel, and DXF import that needs no preparation.
Existing users: update from Microsoft Store → Library.
Both run entirely on your own machine. Both open fully before you sign up for anything.
If you've done either of these jobs by hand, tell me what we got wrong.
A utility-scale solar plant design starts with one thing: the shape of a piece of land.
Everything after is downstream of it — where the tables go, how many fit, where the inverters sit, what it generates in year 25.
Today we shipped two Windows apps. 🧵
The hard part of a solar plant layout is not fitting panels inside a polygon.
It is everything you have to keep out: water bodies, the perimeter road, transmission line corridors, ground too steep to build on, and the year-round shadow of anything tall.
Rows in a solar plant run east to west, and the panels face the equator.
In the northern hemisphere that means they face south.
It is the first thing you fix, and every other decision in the layout sits downstream of it.
