Given that they're pretending to be a real person, I think it might be an account warmup before job interviews. There are probably hundreds of virtual dipaks applying to jobs that a few ghost engineers in that system would pretend to do. I'm not crazy, I've seen some shit.

The irony: Next.js optimizes dev mode with on-the-fly recompiling to reduce wait times, yet developers still spend most of their time staring at 'Compiling /route...'
Both are easy in their own way. For an ok frontend with an ok backend you don't have to do much on both sides. A good frontend however indeed tends to have 10x more nuances to polish out than the backend for the same level of app complexy.

Based on all the time spent upgrading linting dependencies, this tweet gives out so much eslint vibes, I can't

I often ask roughly the same question in the interviews. Now I finally understand why most people get it wrong. Statistically more than half don't know or don't remember the event loop execution order.

Python choir of pain thread. The package ecosystem of "no-one gives a shit". Minor breaking releases. Slow. And don't even get me started with that easy glue-language bullshit - there are better adhesives out there. Without meaningful tabulation.

Hmm, a typical SaaS product is between 30 to 100 k lines of code. Should I do a challenge and build something to completion in.. less than 10 days? But hold on a minute, chap, 100k lines is more than War and Peace. I can't read that fast, can I?

I feel that the target for that advice differs slightly from my take here, but: It's actually quite fun to make custom infra tools that way. You kinda need to be careful and know what you're doing before giving it write access though. It is all about big red confirm buttons.

I feel that's actually a bit more abstract and complex than needed. At least half of what makes a good design is just rhythm - consistent rhythmic spacing, sizing, flow and timings. If you're a blockhead, like me, stick to rhythmic numbers - you'll find which ones feel right.

I've seen a person type in "sort()" letter by letter in a code pad. Without a grain of understanding. A bit relieving that those people are easily falling apart on any direct request to quickly demonstrate what they've just said. Like total stupor on "define me a type here".

Great post by notion/cursor designer on how to work on complex systems. I have an extreme tangential take to add here. You shouldn't let people without the capacity for grasping the full complexity of the system to add parts to said system. Resulting chaos won't be controllable.

I feel like people showing their implementation of this are missing the point - to make this into a game you'll need 2 versions for the whole world: local billboards and background. The difficulty is in answering what happens with the background when you get from here to there.

If you accidentally have a gig for building complex TS web apps and it doesn't involve constantly preventing 10 cheap "senior" devs from merging unhinged stupid stuff in production — hit me up.
I've heard you like encoding? Sure lets grab all the sacred data storage formats and combine them together so you can have encoding inside encoding inside encoding. Honestly, I feel we're getting closer to wh40k tech priests culture.

I have to teach the concept of derived state to every team i work with in the first week of PRs. Statistically speaking, no wonder llms default to using effects inapropriately as well.

Sorry, venting here: @expo turned out to be a clusterfuck. nothing is backwards compatible, monorepos do not work, migrating sdk versions is a dependency hell, and how can you NOT version your docs? Also discontinuing support for working with cookies, like... what?
Huh. I guess writing a single data type check as a separate schema + 8 lines of handling counts as something convenient or even as an insight these days. At least mention about .catch(undefined) if you're talking query, oi!
