I would like to share a personal reflection on the ongoing conversations around citizenship, identity, and public service in Uganda. I was born and raised in Uganda. It is the country that shaped me, educated me, gave me opportunities, and allowed me to serve to the best of my ability. When my Ugandan passport was revoked years ago, it was one of the most difficult experiences of my life. It felt deeply personal and, at the time, heartbreaking. I was asked to choose between aspects of my identity that, to me, had never been in conflict. After much reflection, I decided that what mattered most was my ability to continue living, working, and contributing to the country I call home. I subsequently obtained a Rwandan passport and a work permit. While the process brought inconvenience and frustration, it never stopped me from continuing to work, build, contribute, and serve alongside fellow Ugandans. Though I am of Rwandan heritage, I have always considered myself Ugandan in every meaningful sense of the word, having lived here my entire life. That experience taught me an important lesson: service to one’s country is not measured solely by the passport one carries, but by the contribution one makes, the values one upholds, and the commitment one demonstrates to the people around them. As we debate recent appointments and questions of citizenship, I believe our focus should remain on competence, integrity, service, and the value individuals can bring to Uganda. Institutions responsible for appointments should be allowed to perform their duties, while the rest of us assess leaders by the impact they make. Uganda’s story has always been one of diverse communities, cultures, and histories living alongside one another. Our identities are often more interconnected than we sometimes acknowledge. That diversity should be a source of strength rather than division. I also wish to say this respectfully: those who seek to inflame tensions or claim to speak for all Banyarwanda do not speak for me. I have never denied my heritage, nor have I ever stopped loving Uganda. The loss of a passport did not diminish my affection for this country or my desire to contribute to its future. We are a peaceful people. We are neighbours, colleagues, friends, and family members. The conversations we have today will shape the country our children inherit tomorrow. Let us therefore choose wisdom over anger, unity over division, and dialogue over suspicion. I love Uganda, and I remain grateful for all it has given me. I also remember a time when many people of Rwandan heritage living in Uganda felt unable to openly acknowledge that part of who they were. We have made significant progress since then. Let us not move backwards. Let us continue building a society where people are judged by their character, contribution, and commitment to the common good. Peace, respect, and togetherness must always come first #peace #respect #love #understanding

Uganda's total installed electricity generation capacity is about 2,098 MW, according to the Ministry of Energy. There is a smelting plant in India, Aditya Birla Aluminium Smelters, that uses 2,050MW at peak capacity. In Uganda Kakira Sugar probably uses the most power (22MW)...

The Strait of Hormuz has been closed for 8 days. Everyone thinks this is about oil. This is about what oil becomes. 92% of the world's sulfur comes from refining oil and gas. Close the Strait of Hormuz and you don't just lose 20 million barrels of crude per day. You lose the feedstock for sulfuric acid, the single most produced chemical on Earth. Sulfuric acid is how we extract copper. It's how we extract cobalt. Without it, you can't make transformers, EV batteries, or the substrates inside every data center on the planet. One chemical, made from one feedstock, shipped through one chokepoint. The cascade goes further: Qatar ships 30% of Taiwan's liquefied natural gas through Hormuz. Taiwan has 11 days of reserves left. TSMC, the company that makes 90% of the world's advanced chips, draws 8.9% of Taiwan's total electricity. No gas, no power, no chips. Then food. 33% of the world's nitrogen fertilizer feedstock moves through the Strait. Half of all humans alive today exist because of synthetic nitrogen. Sulfur, semiconductors, food. That makes three supply chains, one 21-nautical-mile chokepoint, and zero domestic alternatives at scale.

There’s a man in my office who hasn’t been promoted in 6 years. He arrives before everyone. Leaves after everyone. Knows the company’s systems better than the people who built them. When something breaks at 2am, they call him. His name is on the bottom of reports that directors present to the board. He doesn’t complain. He says he’s just “not political.” Last week, a 26-year-old joined us. MBA. Firm handshake. Calls the MD by his first name. Within 3 months, he’s already sitting in meetings my colleague has never been invited to. I watched my colleague train him. Smiled the whole time. Answered every question. Shared shortcuts it took him years to figure out. Afterwards I asked him, don’t you feel cheated? He looked at me for a long moment. “I used to. But I realized something. I’ve been loyal to a company. Not a purpose. Those are not the same thing.” He resigned two weeks later. Took everything he knew with him. Started something of his own. The MD sent a company-wide email. Called it “a great loss to the team.” Eleven years of emails. And that was the first one that mentioned his name. The system will celebrate your exit more than it ever celebrated your presence. Stop waiting to be seen. Build something that sees you if you’re not appreciated where you are.

Reposted (Do not delete again) A note to Yuweri K. Museveni of Uganda... Respected Mr. President, I would like to clarify an important point. Somaliland's journey isn't about secession from Somalia, but rather a withdrawal from a de facto union that, much like Senegal-Gambia or Egypt-Syria, has not served its purpose. On June 26, 1960, 35 nations recognized Somaliland as a sovereign state, a fact deeply rooted in our history. Our envoy could've enlightened you on this We take pride in our democratic values, conducting free and fair elections that have seen four presidents elected since 2003. Our self-reliance is evident, as we've developed our armed forces with our own resources, with no need for peacekeepers. I grasp your strategic interests in our neighbor, but misrepresenting the Republic of Somaliland and prescribing actions based on misconceptions isn't the way forward. Respectfully, Hamse Khaire Republic of Somaliland

Losing Russian gas cost Germany an estimated 500,000 jobs, now Europe is losing Russian diesel and gasoline via an export ban. The only exceptions being Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Hard to fathom how Europe's leadership thought it could win an economic war with Russia, when Russia produces all the key commodities that Europeans need to enjoy a high standard of living. Soaring prices for energy and food will make living conditions tough for Europeans, and when things get tough people revolt against their governments. Scholz and Macron are next on the chopping block.

NATO the "defensive alliance" casually threatening China and saying they're next for dinner: Stoltenberg: "If the United States is concerned about China and wants to pivot towards Asia, then you have to ensure that Putin doesn’t win in Ukraine" NATO will have “the second biggest army in Europe (Ukraine) on our side.” "We'll then have a weakened Russian army and also a Europe really stepping up for defense spending. That will make it easier for you to focus also on China"

'I'm not going back and fight' - US mercenaries say war in Ukraine is more dangerous than in Iraq or Afghanistan - The Daily Beast -This is my third war I've been in and this one is by far the worst. You will be crushed by artillery, tanks. Last week, a bomb was dropped from an airplane next to us, about 300 meters away. This is horrifying shit. - You can't hide anywhere. When we went out on missions, I thought we were all going to die. A helicopter will not fly for you, no one will save you when you are surrounded. When I got home, I had time to think things over. I came to the conclusion that I'm not going to go back and fight.

Before you actually blame Spice, get to know that the system can exploit your weakness to use you. It was everywhere in news that someone mysteriously died in her home, What if she was threatened!! Anyhow, it seems like another career is getting killed by off stage issues

Do you remember Salongo John? The man who announced our parents' death for so many years. He is making 98 years today. I bumped into him yesterday at @radiobuddu98, where he had gone to record a show in celebration of his birthday.

The only time BoJ intervention lasts is when it is Joint with other central banks. And this is not joint intervention. Beware

@TheMutaD Routine considerations in the management of construction projects of this scale. I could tell you similar stories in respect of the construction of the KCCL plant. Eg: Bateman the EPCM consultants saved KCCL approx USD 1m on buying for KCCL a used 90t mobile crane.
