I learned today that people include self-learning in "work" and hence include it in the "work-life balance" argument. Its baffling. For me work-life balance is always about my 9-5 job if I am doing any but never about my self-learning.

I have never seen more jealous people than cs grads seeing self-taught engineers succeed. I enjoy it every single time. Every great software engineer is self-taught.
