It’s 33 years to the day since Graham Taylor was appointed England manager. Here in 2016, over two decades after his tenure ended, Taylor talks about the pain he still felt from his failure to take England to the 1994 World Cup. Poignant stuff.
@stusfootyflash A thoroughly decent human being, demonstrated by the great and good from football that attended his funeral. International football management was not too much for him - he inherited an ageing side at the end of its life cycle. He was introducing the next generation like shearer
@stusfootyflash Robbed in Rotterdam or more like Mugged by Koemans
@stusfootyflash Always thought he was a brave man to take off Lineker & replace him with Alan Smith. Would have been easier to leave Lineker on. He KNEW that if it didn't come off, the press would hammer him. He did what he thought was right, as a brave manager does.
@stusfootyflash One of life’s great human beings. Treated appalling by too many during his England tenure
@stusfootyflash Clearly a good man. Did a great job at villa but his squad and team selections for England were so poor considering the strength in depth he had in those 3 years after Italia 90
@stusfootyflash The way he was treated in the media would never be allowed now, out of his depth at international level but a lovely man who did know his football and was a good club coach.
@stusfootyflash He was a true gentleman- he didn’t deserve any of the crap he took - he remained a gent
@stusfootyflash @Villa_Trust True legend. Thes only one Graham Taylor
@stusfootyflash He was a lovely man and I’m proud he managed the Villa twice.
