1/2 - SPM reports that Mai Aung Htet Oo, a staff member of the CSO Ta'ang Students and Youth Union (TSYU) in NSS, has been sentenced to 7 years in prison by the SAC, while journalist Lway Am Phaung gets 2 years, for violating 52a & 505 respectively.

These techniques revolve around a politicization of the figure of the "partisan" as a weapon to be harnessed or to be targeted that has specific biological and geographic links with the land. An element that draws a fil rouge throughout wars in Palestine, Ukraine, Russia or Burma
By managing military techniques/infrastructures like free-fire and scorched earth, porterage and human minesweeping, militias and military settlements the Tatmadaw turns populations into a "natural" element of the space and naturalises border areas as frontiers of the polity.

1/2 - Nice thread on arguably Myanmar's greatest ever footballer, Anglo-Burmese Rangoon native Fred Pugsley. Forced to flee Rangoon in WWII, he walked on foot with his family, with thousands of others, to Calcutta, turning up at the doorstep of @eastbengal_fc .
Calcutta, June 1942. Some players and officials at the East Bengal football ground were shocked to see a thin man, looking almost destitute, walk into the tent. The man was a refugee from Rangoon. What happened next is a stuff of legends. A thread. 1/18
