One AI infra angle I think is getting missed: the old oilfield service companies. $PUMP built distributed power for the oil patch. Now that same capability is being pushed toward data centers. PROPWR already has ~510 MW contracted. Worth watching where the next MW lands.
Didn't realize $GFS was getting this involved in AI chip packaging. They just landed a $2B agreement to manufacture silicon interposers for $TSMC Production won't ramp until 2028, but interesting to see where the money is going beyond the actual chips. gf.gcs-web.com/news-releases/…
@mozo2say Agreed. That's what makes behind-the-meter power interesting. Could bypass some grid bottlenecks. Do you see that becoming a bigger advantage as demand grows?
@Kalshi_Crypto China is also building out a national computing network. Wonder if blockchain eventually becomes the settlement layer for AI compute and data markets 🧐
VEIR raised $110M this week to commercialize superconducting power cables for AI data centers. It previously demonstrated 3 MW through one cable in a test environment. Could ease crowded copper runs. Still need real-world deployments and cryogenic cost data.
@WatcherGuru This is where AI compute gets interesting. Tokenizing contracted GPU capacity could make compute a tradable, financeable asset, unlocking liquidity and investment in AI infrastructure. The key will be how that capacity is verified, valued, and settled.
$MOD completed its spin-off Oct. 1, sharpening its focus on data-center cooling. A customer paid $165M upfront to help expand capacity under an agreement covering $4B+ in potential cooling sales through 2029. Customer-funded supplier expansion is worth watching.
@axios The site economics change a lot here. Cheap generation matters less if you're still staring at years of transmission and permitting work. The full path to power may end up being the scarcer asset.
@jukan05 The contrast is pretty wild. Power is holding projects up <> surplus power is pulling compute toward it. Makes me wonder if chips/memory become the real ceiling there much sooner.
@shanaka86 I'm curious how much of this gets solved by building generation closer to the data center versus making the compute load more flexible. The latter seems underexplored, especially for workloads that can be shifted a few hours.
@OwenGregorian Curious how much of this funding ultimately goes toward SiC manufacturing capacity versus the radiation-hardened side. Both seem worth watching as power and space infrastructure scale.

Worth watching where power electronics, defense and space infrastructure start overlapping. reuters.com/business/wolfs…
Interesting development at $WOLF. The company just received a conditional commitment for up to $1.5B in 30-year government financing to expand domestic SiC manufacturing, GaN capabilities and radiation-hardened chips.
$SPCX is reportedly looking to finance a $40B Nvidia chip order with ~$10B of bank loans and $30B of investment-grade debt. GPUs aren't just capex anymore. They're moving deeper into institutional credit markets. Compute is becoming a financeable asset class.

AI compute may have an utilization problem too. A new National Compute Grid says it has ~760 MW connected or in sight and wants to pool idle capacity behind a shared scheduler. Worth watching whether compute aggregation becomes its own infrastructure layer.
