My hottest take remains that the decline in fertility across the rich world is at least partly (I’d say mostly) due to preferences for fewer kids and that when we lament declining fertility (even from a purely economic perspective) we miss a giant chunk of the story.
Do we owe it to future generations that the human race survives? I don’t think we do.
@swinshi Meanwhile, social circles where belief in God is still prevalent, and children are still being born, the reason for living is still obvious. Maybe it is the elitists that have destroyed their hope by destroying their own bloodlines.
