Error tracking got complicated. Telebugs makes it simple again. It collects errors, groups them, notifies your team, and gives you what you need to fix bugs.telebugs.comJoined April 2024

@zeeg That's rough but fair. @TablePlus you may find consolation in @telebugs_ perhaps?.. when you need self-hosted _smol_ Sentry is not exactly the right fit.
I’ve had this task running for 12 days straight.
I have no idea when it’ll finish, but I’m so excited to show you what I’ve been cooking up 😍
(This is @telebugs_ 2.x)
So I asked GPT-6 Sol if a Rust rewrite of @telebugs_ was feasible.
It said it would take 12–24 engineer-months 🤣
If there’s one thing AIs are truly bad at, it’s estimating. Then again, humans are bad at it too.
I'm working on a new major version of @telebugs_.
Telebugs is getting a major visual refresh. I want the interface to be more compact, more consistent, and more cohesive.
But the major version bump isn't just about design. I'll share more about what I'm preparing as the plans take shape.
I'm working on a ton of design improvements for @telebugs_.
I've always wanted the interface to be more compact and to the point. With this new design language, we can fit more on the same screen without losing clarity.
I also wanted to get rid of “Save” buttons everywhere, so changes now save automatically.
It’s heavily inspired by a popular operating system, and I think that’s okay.
Attention to detail is what separates good products from brilliant ones.
I had two menu items that served the same purpose:
1. The user's name and email
2. An “Account Settings” link
I looked at this menu a thousand times, and only today did I realize they were essentially the same thing.
Merged!
I'm launching Telebugs Managed for @telebugs_
If you're not sure how to self-host, or simply don't want to mess with it, I will do it for you!
You get your own Telebugs instance on a VPS, isolated from other customers. I take care of the server, updates, and backups.
Your error data isn't used to train general-purpose AI models.
You can find out what broke in your app without adding server maintenance to your list.
$99/month, with a 14-day trial 👇
Meet the new @telebugs_
I spent a lot of time on this redesign. Rewriting the copy, polishing the design, and deciding what each page actually needed to say.
I wanted people running self-hosted Sentry to recognize what Telebugs offers: less work keeping their error tracker running.
That’s where the gazelle came in. Light, fast, and a good fit for the product. I liked it so much that it became the new logo.
Every page now has a clear job. I wrote them for the person trying to decide whether Telebugs is right for them.
My favorite is the new features page. It takes you on a tour of Telebugs, with a page for each feature explaining why it’s useful and answering common questions.
Have a look: telebugs.com
People are sick and tired of all their subscriptions.
So I sold software for a one-time payment.
Now I’m adding a yearly payment. Sounds backwards. Let me explain.
When someone buys software, they expect it to keep working. When they find a bug, they expect a fix. When they get stuck, they want help.
Fair enough. I expect the same when I buy something.
But they paid once, and the work keeps coming.
To pay for that work, I have to sell another copy. Then another. I’m looking for new customers to fund the work I’m doing for existing ones.
I chose that model. I’m changing it.
Buying software should mean you get to keep it. It shouldn’t mean the person who built it has agreed to maintain it indefinitely for the same payment.
So here’s where I landed: buy it, keep it. Pay yearly if you want continued updates and support. Stop paying, and your version still works.
People who bought under the old terms keep those terms. That was the deal.
My mistake was thinking a simple price meant a simple commitment.
The price was one-time. The work never was.
I'm optimizing the CTA on my marketing pages, and I came up with this style.
Some of you might notice similarities to another popular product.
Can you guess which one?
So I’ve been working on the feature pages for @telebugs_, and I needed a nice visual way to bring them all together in one place.
I struggled for a bit because I couldn’t come up with anything interesting. Then it struck me: what if I used bugs taped to pieces of paper?
It’s a nod to the famous Grace Hopper story, when her team found a moth in a computer and taped it into the logbook.
I tried it, and after a few rounds of polishing, this is what came out.
I’m happy with the result!
I’m working on new pricing for @telebugs_.
Telebugs will soon come in two flavors:
- Self-hosted: run it on your own server, just like before
- Managed: get a private Telebugs instance operated and maintained by me
It’s the same product with the same features. The difference is who operates it.
Telebugs comes with an installer that makes self-hosting straightforward.
But if you’d rather not think about servers, backups, upgrades, security, email delivery, or uptime, I’ll take care of it for you.
Self-hosted will be $299, including a perpetual license and one year of updates and email support. Continued updates and support will be optional at $99/year.
Managed will be $99/month with a 14-day trial.
P.S. The new pricing will apply only to purchases made after it launches. If you already own Telebugs, this pricing change won’t affect your existing license.
🚨 Telebugs’ $299 one-time license ends September 30, 2026.
After that, new purchases will move to annual pricing.
If you’ve been considering @telebugs_, now is the time.
Existing customers keep their terms. So will anyone who buys before the deadline.
