A guy with cerebral palsy got his benefits taken away without notice. He needed it to be able to change his diapers multiple times a day. When this was told to a doctor, he said it’s okay to be dirty. This is how some treat disabled people; that it’s okay to sit in our own filth.
@theBrianaMills Yeah, “it’s okay to be dirty” is literally not factually or medically correct. Sitting in your own waste can cause skin breakdowns and severe infections. It’s even more dangerous if you have pressure sores.
@N0vemberRa1n_ Exactly!! This was coming from a licensed doctor. The medical field has so much ableism.
@theBrianaMills @N0vemberRa1n_ It’s not ableism- it’s misinformation on medicine . The MD lying
There is a difference, Briana, between ableism &deliberate hatred. This doctor knows what ‘being dirty’ can do to skin & tender genitalia. He doesn’t NOT know. It’s not possible to get through med school without knowing. That remark was deliberately hateful, &designed to cause harm.
@theBrianaMills @N0vemberRa1n_ It's not ableism. It's outright hatred. No different than sending Jews to see Dr. Mengele for "medical care".
