You're certainly allowed to argue "adults should be able to easily afford a solo dwelling, no matter their economic situation" as a normative claim. But it's NEVER, EVER been achieved in practice. Being intensely angry that this isn't true is bizarre. Yes, the world is imperfect!

@whstancil It has, if my parents were able to in the early 90’s living on a Disney dancer salary it can be done again 😇
@Messiah_CFL @whstancil You knew how we day a lot of those conversations are because people didn't realize how wealthy their parents were and how privileged their childhood was, we are taking about people like you
@the_ason @whstancil Working as a dancer out of high school is wealthy? Damn near minimum wage but okay bro you got it 😂😂😂
@Messiah_CFL @the_ason @whstancil My mom bought a house in 83 on her minimum wage job alone and her mortgage payment was only like 20% of her income. That house was ripped down and replaced by a 5-plex and you’d need 6-7 FT MW jobs to cover the mortgage or rent on one of the units today.
@BakedGoodsYYC @Messiah_CFL @the_ason @whstancil My mom’s house payment in ‘83 was $100 a month at 13% interest is not something anyone serious claims. Guess a literal shack might cost that much.
@Stephengm99 @BakedGoodsYYC @Messiah_CFL @whstancil It's funny how they try to talk about the 80s life it was the 1950s
