Exciting day: moving Hermes agent off a VPS onto a VM on my laptop. Eventually, a fully local AI stack.

I didn't fix him. I taught him to listen to his nervous system. That's the difference between treating pain and resolving it.

Most chronic pain advice is another stretch, another specialist. It treats the spot that hurts, not the system generating it. The bottleneck isn't your structure. It's your nervous system, stuck on high alert. 1-min neuroplastic pain quiz. 10 questions. No email needed. caseykarlow.com/neuroplastic-p…

@Tim_Denning I like this. In the same vein, we can also rewire ourselves out of physical pain. Leveraging neuroplasticity is the way.

Surfing is digital detoxing, biohacking, grounding, circadian maxxing, HRV maxxing, exercise, mental health therapy, breathwork, nervous system regulation, wilderness therapy, vagus nerve stimulation, hydrotherapy, cold exposure (in some places), stress management, HIIT, balance and proprioception training, anger management, moving meditation, and more. It's also just fun.

I don't want flying cars. I want rivers and ocean I can swim in with friends. I want food that isn't full of toxic chemicals and clean soil to grow it in. I want raw nature and wilderness and places on the earth I can get lost without seeing another human. I want air

If you have been dealing with chronic back pain, doing these types of exercises will likely exacerbate your pain. That was my experience after many years of dealing with chronic back pain. If your back pain is caused by a structural issue, these might help. For most people, though, chronic pain isn't structurally caused. Emerging pain science has shown us this. Trying to "fix" your back reinforces the idea that something is wrong with you. More exercises, stretches, foam rolling, etc., subconsciously tell your brain that the sensations you are feeling are dangerous, that you're broken, and then you're back in the pain-fear cycle. Chronic pain is more likely a maladaptive brain process; your nervous system is trying to protect you from a threat that doesn't exist, so it generates pain. It’s hypervigilant and overly sensitized. To break this cycle, you have to teach your nervous system safety and quiet your body's alarm system so the bracing and pain you feel can settle. This is how I got out of debilitating back pain. Once the pain has settled and your body knows it isn't broken, build tension in the right places to improve your posture and gait, not to fix your back. Introduce slow movements, and know that if the pain comes back, you can meet it without fear. Over time, you will recover completely because you've rewired your brain with a new narrative. This is the beauty of neuroplasticity.

To fix my low back I started with stabilizing the muscles around the back with McGill Big 3 and glute bridges. Did that for 3 months consistently and back pain reduced. Then I slowly started low back extensions. That's when back pain disappeared forever.

15 years of chronic back pain led me to emerging pain science — and the discovery that fear is the primary driver of neuroplastic pain. The amazing thing about recovering completely from chronic pain? You don't have to outsource your treatment to another doctor or specialist. You can teach your nervous system to unlearn the pain. That's exactly what I did after 15 years of seeing specialists. It also marked the beginning of my journey toward self-sovereignty.

Privacy isn’t about hiding. It’s about choice. It’s about dignity. It’s about deciding for ourselves who gets access to our data, and under what circumstances. When that choice is taken away, so is a piece of our humanity.

💯 Your nervous system is doing exactly what it was designed to do. The pain, the fatigue, the panic. All signal. We also can't breathe our way out of a digital environment designed to keep us hyper vigilant and hyper sensitzed. Modern devices and platforms perpetually activate our fear center if left unchecked. We can magnify the feelings of peace, calm, and safety when we create a digital environment that works for us, not against us.

The nervous system is signal. It operates perfectly— full stop. Terms like regulated and especially dysregulated (not really a word) don’t properly communicate what’s going on. The better question to these terms is… What instructions is it receiving? Imagine, blaming your
