I've been using Claude Code for a while, both on my VPS and on my own machine. It works well, but it keeps me tied to a terminal. I wanted the same agent in a proper interface, with better visibility into what it's doing. So I built Orbit, a self-hosted interface for Claude Code. It runs locally on your own machine or on a remote server, and you open it in any browser. Under the hood it's a Node server built on Anthropic's Claude Agent SDK. Each conversation is a long-lived streaming session over WebSockets, so a task keeps running after the browser closes. It uses the same login and session history as the CLI, which means anything I start in the terminal also shows up in Orbit. What it does: Tool approvals. Every tool call goes through a permission handler that sends it to the UI, where I can allow it, deny it or always allow it. Plan mode, accept-edits and auto mode are all supported. Change tracking. SDK hooks on every file edit record before/after snapshots. Each change gets its own diff in a built-in Monaco editor and can be reverted with one click. Plain-language explanations. Each command has a quick rule-based risk label, plus an on-demand explanation from a lightweight Haiku call. It's useful when reviewing a session or showing the work to people who aren't engineers. Monitoring. Live system metrics, PM2 process status and logs, restarts, and uptime checks for every site. Backups. It discovers each site from the nginx config, follows it to its running process and project directory, and finds its databases. It creates scheduled archives with SQLite and Postgres dumps, nginx config and process state included. Restores go through a guided agent session instead of a blind overwrite. Usage. A small separate service shows Claude plan limits and token usage per model. A real terminal (xterm.js on tmux) for everything else. The UI is intentionally minimal and monochrome, with color only for state that matters. Most of Orbit after the first version was built using Orbit itself. I'm planning to open source it soon. Right now it's tailored to my own server setup, so I'm cleaning it up to work in a general environment first. #ai #claude #developers

@Shivam25mishra Bought Microsoft surface 4 installed ubuntu on it and works like magic. I've had an m2 air previously and honestly I prefer the surface
