I'm old enough to remember when Critical Race Theory was just called History.
@theliamnissan Yes And should still be called history Makes me ill that the same people attacking voting rights are suddenly outraged by teaching the truth about the civil war and slavery
@theliamnissan Yes… except, in truth, many if not most of our history classes glossed over African-American history. We learned about events and key figures without reading original documents extensively or with a serious consideration of racism.
@theliamnissan Preventing the teaching of Black history is exactly why CRT exists. I don’t think they get the irony.
@theliamnissan Wrong. You were not taught history, and neither was I. The history we were taught was heavily redacted.
@theliamnissan We might consider taking a leap and teach “Honest History”. and toss pseudo-sophisticated jargon. A lie is a lie. Not, “Alternate Reality”.
@theliamnissan @Imposter_Edits If anything, our legacy needs to learn more about the history of our Nation. It's a tragedy that I myself just learned of the Tulsa Massacre just within the last couple of years. My older adult kids didn't know either.
@theliamnissan @wreddpepper Yes. Conservatives have twisted Critical Race Theory into something that it is not. CRT is not taught to children. It is a graduate level course that examines the intersection of race & the justice system taught in law schools. As you said, they want to eliminate history.
