I was a "live and let live" libertarian. I had Dems, Reps, even some oddball Commies in my teams for decades. But then the videogame industry became politicized. The tabletop industry. The comic industry. There was no escape even in escapist entertainment. (2/X)
Now my politics are this.
Never have I ever been so happy that my job as a tabletop game designer is too niche for anyone to spend $1 billion creating an AI to replace me
How much territory do monsters require to survive? In our latest Axioms update, I provide tables that show the number of 6-mile hexes occupied by every lair in ACKS. patreon.com/posts/75435818…
I feel every word of this.
@NotJonMollison Oh ho! I'm well versed in the works of Arnesson (who is dead but not forgotten) and this film specifically. But I haven't heard of this pamphlet before, and wondered if it was a currently in-print item. I'm always glad to see more people learning the hobby's actual roots!
@NotJonMollison Check out Restoration Games. They have a current in-print edition with expansions. Looks great, and I'm glad to get a recommendation.
One of the most epic twitter threads I've ever read.
Rome is often compared to modern America. History rhymes. Tragedy plays out on a grand scale. A divided Empire spirals into chaos; poverty; despair. In this thread, I will explore 2 questions: Compared to Rome, how will these troubles unfold? Where can we find our CAESAR?
For those who are accustomed to controlling the narrative, freedom of speech feels like oppression.

Utah is the Switzerland of America. Everyone is nice, everything is clean and well-run, all of the scenery is beautiful, and the nightlife is totally boring.
This, all the damn time. I started by playing BECMI, and now I'm playing BECMI-flavoured ACKS.
