Yes, Colin Powell was vaccinated. But he also had blood cancer, which devastates the immune system. What his tragic death illustrates isn't the futility of vaccines but the importance of everyone else getting vaccinated to protect society's most vulnerable.
Reporters need to mention this. This reuters article notes he was fully vaccinated, but not that he had blood cancer reuters.com/world/us/ex-jo…
Here's my post on it @Slate slate.com/technology/202…
If you want to learn more about the plight of the immunocompromised, I wrote about it here: slate.com/technology/202…
@timrequarth But you can still catch it and spread it, even when fully vaccinated. Lots of fully vaxxed and dead deaths lately. Perhaps trying to vaccinate our way out isn’t the answer.
@timrequarth At this point anyone who refuses the vaccine & won’t wear a mask are the reason Covid is still plaguing even the vaccinated. They have🩸on their hands.
@timrequarth Today is probably too soon to argue this- let's remember a great man. But Tim- you are not a doctor. I am. My first clue was the term 'blood cancer' used instead of multiple myeloma. The General died WITH Covid. Don't try to morph this into a vaccine argument.
@timrequarth The man was 84 and had multiple medical conditions. What does one expect? The common cold could have killed him or anyone in a similar situation.
